The Software Development Process

The software development process goes through a series of logical phases. All projects are treated this way but the amount of detail and formality within each phase is sensibly adjusted to be in balance with the size of the project.

Development phases
The phases in completing your solution are:

  • Understanding your requirements
  • Pricing and contract agreement
  • Design the solution
  • Coding and off site testing
  • Deliver the solution for initial evaluation and use by you
  • Documentation and training as agreed
  • Final version supplied and installed.

Small projects
For smaller projects, concepts and detail are much simpler so we prefer to spend less time on formal scoping and documentation at the start. We prefer to show our understanding of your needs with an early working version for you to appraise. You will know very quickly if everything is on track and it is easier for you to comment and indicate necessary changes. This approach keeps costs to a real minimum as it saves time.

Larger projects
Obviously larger projects require more careful understanding and planning to ensure nothing is overlooked. Depending on your particular needs we will need to interact with you more to scope the project sufficiently.
